Toni Rae, she performed with Count Basie
Current mood:happy
She performed with Woody Herman and Count Basie. Toni Rae is a big band vocalist who settled in the DC area after a lifetime in show business. Her recent visit to the Dance Bethesda has lifted my spirits. I've been listening to her most recent CD, "Toni Rae ...sings just for you".Her cd includes a short bio:
" In the early 1960's, Toni Rae was singing at the Black Orchid and 500 Club in Atlantic City, opening for comedians Jackie Mason, Myron Cohen, Jack E. Leonard, and singers Buddy Greco and Sarah Vaughn.
Toni also performed with Woody Herman and Count Basie and then went on to Puerto Rico with Pat Galo's Hi Lads. During her career she worked with Jack Jones, the DeJohn Sisters and Danny and the Juniors, doing nightclub and supper club work in New York and Las Vegas.
On a trip to Marco Island, Florida, she sang at the Olde Marco Inn piano bar with Bobby Gideons. She became lead singer with Bobby Synders big band at the Deck and the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island".
Let's hope that we'll see more of Toni around the studio.
